What is a stress risk assessment?
How do you stop people at work being so stressed?
Understanding Stressors at work
HSE created the Stress Management Standards which focus on 6 core areas of stress:
Demands
Control
Support
Relationships
Role
Change
They offer vast free information here.
Assessment
The free stress indicator tool is a survey for up to 50 people at no cost to you. It is a survey that you send to your team and see the results of how your business is seen by employees.
Formal risk assessment
Once you have identified the issues you record them in a formal risk assessment to consider the actions to be taken.
The free training tool linked in the education section has example risk assessments to help support this.

Keep it going
It isn’t a one off exercise.
We would recommend you have open conversations, and keep the survey going at regular intervals. Especially when changes occur. This helps you maintain a low stress environment, meaning happier more productive teams!
Sometimes handling certain situations and stressors can be challenging. Remember that you are not qualified to deal with serious mental health conditions (unless that is your acutal business!). Learning how to signpost and encourage employees to seek professional support when needed is your business, but that’s where it stops.
You control the work environment, but sometimes stress will be caused by other external factors beyond your control.
Seeking professional help here, can make a huge difference to your team and your business.
